Marco Island names Joseph Belardo as its next police chief

MARCO ISLAND, Fla. (WINK) — The City of Marco Island has appointed Joseph Belardo as the next chief of police for the Marco Island Police Department.

City Manager Dr. Casey Lucius officially appointed Chief Belardo effective Monday, according to a press release. The appointment follows a highly competitive selection process.

Chief Belardo has served the Marco Island community since joining the department in 2020. He has led the agency as interim chief since May.

An official swearing-in ceremony will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 12, at 2 p.m.
