PUNTA GORDA, Fla. (WINK) — The Sweet Science Boxing Fitness has opened its newest location at 17750 Curry Preserve Drive, Suite 110, bringing its signature boxing-inspired circuit training to one of Southwest Florida's fastest-growing communities.
The gym is designed for all fitness levels, from beginners trying something new to experienced athletes looking to sharpen their skills. Trainers guide members through 15 rotating stations that combine strength training, cardio and authentic boxing techniques for a workout that challenges both the body and mind.
One of the biggest differences from a traditional gym is its flexible format. Instead of scheduled class times, members can arrive anytime during operating hours and jump right into the workout, with coaches available throughout each session to provide personalized instruction and modifications.
Owner and founder, Billy Lyell, has a long career in professional boxing. After retiring, and becoming a teacher Lyell decided to open up a gym, " At first I just opened it up to make some extra money on the side but it got so popular. I fought all over the world and everyone has great boxing experience to help out anyone who needs it. It's personalized 1-on-1 attention."
Beyond its signature circuit training, the gym also offers personal training, youth and amateur boxing programs, and Rock Steady Boxing,
Partner David Bloom said this fitness program designed to help people living with Parkinson's disease improve balance, mobility and overall quality of life, " I knew a guy who when he came in he could barely get one foot in front of the other with a walk. Now, he's able to walk by himself. It's incredible to see the changes happen in front of us."
The Babcock Ranch location is one of several Sweet Science gyms across Southwest Florida and is among the first businesses to open in the new Curry Commerce Park, continuing the town's growing lineup of fitness and wellness offerings.
The Sweet Science Boxing Fitness is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to noon and 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., with weekend hours from 9 a.m. to noon.
