SOUTHWEST FLORIDA (WINK)—Scott Wolfson and Kes Sampanthar founded Centaurian AI, a company with a big mission: helping humans work alongside AI to achieve better, smarter outcomes.
"It is the most powerful learning technology humans have ever created, maybe except for writing," Wolfson said.
"We talk about this being an inflection point for learning. This is a learning revolution," Wolfson said.
But to truly keep learning, even with AI, it takes creativity in how you are using it. Think first, prompt second, then check the work to fully understand it.
Sampanthar says even teachers should jump on board.
"So the opportunity for teachers and education, and we're seeing some people experimenting with this, is you can actually use AI to help you get a better sense of what the student actually understands underneath," Sampanthar said.
Sampanthar's daughter, Sophie, actually used AI to build a bot to quiz her.
"So I made an SAT trainer that kind of used questions from the SAT, similar ones, and so I could just drill questions. And then if I got something wrong, it would store that. It would explain it," Sophie Sampanthar said.
Take three kinds of students: one who uses AI to cheat and get all their answers; on the other side, a student refusing to use AI at all; and the middle group—the sweet spot—using AI to help them learn. The team at Centaurian AI believes the first two are only hurting themselves.
"So, if you do think prompt check. If you bring everything you know and understand into AI, then it can help you figure out what you don't understand," Wolfson said.
One idea of a conversation with your child about using AI came from Sampanthar.
"As a parent, you know, like every technology, you can work with your child to go, hey, look, use AI, but use it in this way. Use it because your work is going to be when you get into the workforce, when you get into your job, AI is going to be, you know, a given, and you still need to be able to show that you know how to actually do this, understand it, and be able to do that checking," Sampanthar said.
Using AI as a way to creatively help your child understand math or science will do two things: it will help them in their studies to truly have the knowledge, and it will also help them keep up with the latest technology for when they leave the nest. Of course, it is up to each parent how much AI they want their child to use.
