A man was arrested in Collier County on Monday and accused of DUI after deputies found him asleep in a truck parked in a driveway. According to the Collier County Sheriff's Office arrest report, deputies responded to a call about a reckless driver swerving near the intersection of Vanderbilt Beach Road and Island Walk, almost hitting mailboxes as it turned onto 3rd Avenue Northwest. Deputies located the truck parked in a driveway on 3rd Avenue Northwest. They approached the truck, which was off, and found a man asleep in the driver's seat with the key in the ignition. The man, identified as John Bishop, 56, woke up and exited the truck, almost falling and having to grab the truck for balance in the process, the report said. While deputies talked with Bishop, they noticed a strong scent of alcohol on his breath. Bishop told deputies he did not know whose driveway he was parked in. Deputies had Bishop participate in Standard Field Sobriety Exercises, which he failed to successfully complete, the report said. Bishop was arrested and provided a breath sample, which revealed a BAC level of 0.153, almost twice the legal limit. Bishop was arrested and faces a charge of DUI.
