Wind shift to change SWF's rain timing starting today

SOUTHWEST FLORIDA (WINK) — A shift in wind direction will change when Southwest Florida sees rain for the rest of this week.

Over the next few mornings, only a 10% chance exists for an isolated shower. Storm chances increase after 2 p.m., when steering currents out of the east and southeast push storms that form inland toward the coast. That timing puts the heaviest impact on I-75 and US-41 during the afternoon and evening commute.

Heading into the weekend, a slight wind shift brings a chance for isolated morning storms, followed by scattered afternoon storms. Easterly winds return Sunday, bringing a mostly dry start to the day before scattered storms redevelop in the afternoon.

Highs through the weekend will hold near normal in the low 90s, with morning lows in the mid-to-upper 70s.
