Bokeelia water main break causes outage, boil water notice for 1,200 residents

BOKEELIA, Fla. (WINK) — About 1,200 residents in Bokeelia north of Pineland Road are experiencing a water outage and are under a precautionary boil water notice due to a water main break, according to the Greater Pine Island Water Association.

The notice will remain in effect for a minimum of 48 hours and is expected to be lifted sometime Saturday afternoon.

Residents in the affected area should boil water before drinking, cooking, preparing food or brushing their teeth until the notice is lifted.
