Lehigh Acres man accused of violently shaking, hitting 4-month-old infant's head against doorframe

A Lehigh Acres man is accused of violently shaking his four-month-old infant and sending him to the hospital, according to the Lee County Sheriff's Office. LCSO says that on Wednesday, deputies responded to a residence on Gordon Avenue in regard to an infant who was unresponsive. The infant was transported to Galisano Children's Hospital before deputies arrived. At the hospital, doctors told deputies that the infant sustained severe head injuries consistent with "non-accidental trauma." LCSO's Special Victims Unit began investigating. During the investigation, the infant's father, Chancelor Rolle, 23, reportedly admitted to deputies that he became frustrated with the infant because he wouldn't stop crying. Rolle told deputies he aggressively rocked the infant and hit his head against a doorframe. He also admitted to violently shaking the infant. LCSO says that the infant's mother was not home at the time of the incident. The infant is still in the hospital and is receiving medical care, according to LCSO. Rolle was arrested and faces a charge of aggravated child abuse.
