Qdoba pulls jalapeños from all locations after Salmonella outbreak

Qdoba has removed jalapeños from its locations after a Salmonella outbreak that was reported across at least 27 states.

The CDC identified the distributor responsible for the contaminated jalapeños, and restaurants have started pulling them from shelves. The FDA needs to determine if the peppers were sold in grocery stores.

Health officials said this strain of Salmonella sickened at least 345 people nationwide, with 36 hospitalized. No deaths have been reported.

There are no cases in Florida. Because Chipotle and Qdoba have already removed the peppers, the CDC says there is no ongoing risk.

Qdoba released a statement saying in part, "Out of an abundance of caution, we have proactively removed jalapeños from all our restaurants at this time."

A separate cyclosporiasis outbreak, which is a different stomach virus, has made headlines this summer. Charlotte has seen its first case, Collier stands at seven cases and Lee has seen 32 cases.

There are still no cases in Glades, Hendry or DeSoto counties.
