Southwest Florida rain timing shifts earlier

SOUTHWEST FLORIDA (WINK) — We're off to a dry start across Southwest Florida, but keep that rain gear close! Showers will develop in our inland communities as early as 10 a.m. and progress westward from there.

Showers and storms should reach I-75 and the coast by lunchtime, a bit earlier than yesterday's timeline. Scattered storms will be capable of heavy rain and lightning through the mid-afternoon hours, with activity becoming more isolated after 5 p.m.

Because showers and storms are firing earlier in the day, high temperatures won't be quite as hot. Highs are still forecast in the lower 90s, but factor in the humidity and it'll feel more like the upper 90s.

Looking Ahead

Friday will bring a similar pattern with more sunshine in the morning, with scattered downpours developing after 2 p.m.

Heading into the weekend, a slight wind shift will trigger isolated morning showers followed by scattered afternoon storms. Sunday looks a bit better for morning plans, with less rain expected to interfere early in the day, though scattered afternoon storms will still be in the picture.
