A 13-year-old boy, identified as Josiah Boone, was arrested in Lehigh Acres after a reported reckless driving incident led to a chase and a crash into a deputy’s cruiser. Deputies said Boone was swerving across the road, driving onto multiple lawns, and nearly collided head-on with another vehicle before he was accused of crashing into a patrol car. After the crash, Boone was accused of running away but was later found hiding in bushes near Longbow Lane. Jessica Bragg, who lives along Longbow Lane, shared her concerns about the incident. "Because it's too close to home. The violence in, you know, the robberies of the vehicles need to stop," Bragg said. Bragg also recalled hearing helicopters early in the morning. "Yes, I did. I didn't hear the sirens, but I did hear the helicopters at about three this morning," she said. Neighbors reported seeing deputies searching the area, with some taking precautions. "My grandson got up and I said, look, turn the light on, because you don't know if someone is hiding in the dark," one neighbor said. Deputies said Boone reportedly took his sister’s car and drove recklessly through streets and yards. Boone was transported to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office 2nd Precinct, where deputies said he was uncooperative during questioning and requested an attorney. He faces charges including driving without a license, firearm possession by a delinquent/prohibited person, resisting an officer without violence, and reckless driving.
