Lehigh Acres man accused of harming infant now faces drug trafficking charges

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. (WINK) — A Lehigh Acres man faces trafficking charges after detectives said they recovered more than 1,600 Oxycodone pills during a search of his home.

The Lee County Sheriff's Office arrested Chancelor Rolle on a trafficking charge after executing a search warrant.

The charges come days after Rolle was taken into custody on an aggravated child abuse charge on Wednesday, following an LCSO Special Victims Unit investigation. Investigators determined there was probable cause to believe Rolle violently shook his 4-month-old infant, causing serious injuries.

"This man harmed his own child and then flooded our community with highly addictive narcotics," Sheriff Carmine Marceno said. "That's a level of disregard for human life that has no place here in Lee County."

"My message is simple: if you bring drugs into this county or victimize the most vulnerable, my team will hunt you down, arrest you, and make sure you answer for it," Marceno said.

Both the Special Victims Unit and narcotics investigations remain active. Additional charges may be forthcoming.
