LABELLE, Fla. (WINK) — The smell of oak smoke starts drifting through LaBelle long before sunrise, and at Log Cabin BBQ, that's exactly how every day begins.
If you're craving slow-smoked barbecue and Southern comfort food, this longtime local favorite continues to draw hungry customers from across Southwest Florida.
Located at 480 W. Hickpochee Ave., Log Cabin BBQ has built a reputation for hearty portions, affordable prices, a family-friendly atmosphere and barbecue that's smoked the old-fashioned way. The rustic restaurant serves everything from pulled pork sandwiches and baby-back ribs to smoked chicken, brisket, and seafood, all paired with homemade Southern sides.
The staff arrives around 6 a.m. each morning to fire up the smoker using LaBelle oak wood, a tradition owner Michael Reale believes makes all the difference.
"I've tried barbecue in other places and other states, and you can taste the difference," Reale said. "The wood here is older and just better."
Guests can choose from favorites like LaBelle's Famous Pulled Pork Sandwich, smoked barbecue chicken and baby back ribs. Popular sides include mac and cheese, baked sweet potatoes, green beans and the restaurant's signature coleslaw. Every meal also comes with complimentary soup and ice cream.
Inside, the log cabin-inspired dining room creates a warm, laid back atmosphere that has made the restaurant a staple in the community for decades. It's a destination for both Hendry County locals and visitors looking for an authentic barbecue experience.
"Whether you live in Fort Myers, Naples or on the other side of the state, this restaurant is worth the drive," Reale said. "We put a lot of love and time into our craft."
One menu item has stood the test of time. Reale said the restaurant's coleslaw recipe hasn't changed in 45 years.
"Sometimes people come through the drive-through just to order a pint of it," he said.
In addition to dine-in service, Log Cabin BBQ offers takeout, catering, drive-through service and delivery, making it easy for customers to enjoy its smoked favorites wherever they are.
Whether you're stopping in for tender ribs, slow-smoked pulled pork or a scoop of the restaurant's famous coleslaw, Log Cabin BBQ continues to prove that great barbecue is worth the trip to LaBelle.
