Romèa Mullings, a Cape Coral resident, said she filed an incident report after receiving a hateful and threatening comment on a Facebook post she shared encouraging parents to teach their children to treat others fairly ahead of the new school year. "Kids are already going through enough with social media with cyberbullying. Please do not add on," Mullings said. Mullings said the situation escalated when another Facebook user left a disturbing comment on her post. "On that post, he decided to put: 'Whatever. Just make sure you keep your violent goblins away from white kids or I will make your life a living hell. And your address is public info, by the way,'" Mullings said. She said she takes threats like these seriously. "Now that's scary because for someone to have so much hatred," Mullings said. Mullings said she went to the Lee County Sheriff's Office to file an incident report. "For someone to feel that way, that you're highly upset just because my kids will be in the same school with white kids, and to call them violent goblins because they're dark-skinned to me is very hurtful, that we still have to go through this to this day in 2026," Mullings said. Attempts to reach the alleged commenter for their side of the story have been unsuccessful. The Lee County Sheriff's Office said more information about the case will be shared on Monday.
