The weekend kicks off with mostly dry conditions, with just a few showers offshore. Temperatures will start in the mid-70s, making for a rather pleasant start to the day.
By this afternoon, temperatures will soar into the low to mid-90s, with inland Collier County expected to be the hot spot. In places like Ave Maria and Immokalee, feels-like temperatures could climb as high as 106 to 109 degrees.
A few isolated showers could develop around noon, but shower and thunderstorm activity will ramp up later in the afternoon, especially around 4 p.m. There is a low-end risk for localized flooding within some of today's stronger storms, particularly this evening.
If you're heading out this afternoon, grab the umbrella. Storms will be possible around Lake Okeechobee and along the I-75 corridor.
Sunday will start off similarly, with a stray shower possible during the morning. Storm coverage will increase again during the afternoon and evening, although coverage is expected to be lower than what we see today.
Temperatures will once again climb into the mid-90s.
Starting Monday, as some of our counties head back to school, we'll begin to see drier air move into the region. This will lower rain chances while allowing temperatures to climb.
The drier pattern becomes even more pronounced Tuesday as Saharan dust moves in. That dry air is expected to keep rain chances suppressed across much of the area through the week.
Scattered storms are expected to return by the following weekend.
No tropical development is expected over the next seven days.
Winds will shift from the southeast to the south at 5–10 knots, with wave heights around 1–2 feet.
Boating conditions should remain manageable, but keep an eye on the radar as thunderstorms develop, especially during the afternoon and evening.
