As of 2 p.m. Sunday, the National Hurricane Center has increased the formation chances for a tropical wave expected to roll off the coast of Africa to 50%.
Computer models are in fair agreement that some short-term development of this wave is possible as it moves from the shores of West Africa into the greater tropical Atlantic.
Environmental conditions are favorable enough to support further organization as it moves generally westward, before finding a weakness in our Atlantic high pressure and starting a turn more northerly.
NHC advises that a tropical depression could form during the latter half of this upcoming week.
