SOUTHWEST FLORIDA (WINK) — WINK News Weather Authority meteorologists are tracking an area of high pressure that will lead to less storm coverage and hot temperatures through the week.
Off to a dry start as kids get back to school in Charlotte, DeSoto, Hendry and Glades counties. Plan on another hot day with highs in the lower to mid 90s and "feels like" temperatures ranging from 104 - 110°. A heat advisory will be in effect for Collier County until 6 PM as temperatures will feel the hottest there. Isolated storms (30% coverage) pop up in the afternoon and can become scattered (40% coverage) throughout the early evening. Less areas will be impacted by Monday's storms.
Mild and dry conditions are in the forecast as kids get back to the classroom across the rest of Southwest Florida's communities. We'll see a hot and drier day as temperatures top out in the lower to mid 90s. "Feels like" temperatures will range from 103 - 109° with some communities likely to be under another heat advisory. Plan for less rain with isolated storms (30% coverage) in the afternoon and early evening.

A broad area of showers and thunderstorms associated with a tropical wave is moving westward across the central tropical Atlantic, about halfway between Africa and the Lesser Antilles. There’s nothing to worry about right now, with only a 10% chance of development over the next seven days. Some gradual organization is possible through midweek, but less favorable upper-level winds are expected to limit development later in the week as the wave approaches the Lesser Antilles.

A small area of low pressure south of the Cabo Verde Islands is producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms. This system will move slowly westward and could merge with another tropical wave coming off Africa in the next couple of days. Conditions are expected to become more favorable for development by midweek, and a tropical depression could form later this week as the system moves west to west-northwest across the Atlantic. WINK News the Weather Authority will continue to monitor this system as it develops and strengthens along its track. Right now, models have this area staying east of the United States, but we'll continue to monitor this area closely.

A trough of low pressure northwest of Bermuda is producing some disorganized showers and thunderstorms. There’s nothing to worry about with this system, with just a 10% chance of development over the next seven days. It will move quickly eastward, well north of Bermuda, and is expected to encounter cooler waters later this week, which will shut down its chances of developing after Wednesday.
