IMMOKALEE, Fla. (WINK)— Seminole Gaming and Hard Rock hosted a women's leadership conference in Immokalee, combining professional development with charitable giving to fight period poverty.
The Women in Leadership event brought together about 200 women from across the region for mentorship and professional development.
A donation drive at the conference raised more than $14,000 and period products to benefit the Alliance for Period Supplies of Southwest Florida.
"It's such an important cause, I mean, again as women, many of us here in this room have never had to, as they said earlier, choose between groceries or period products," said Meaghan Ryan, head of human resources at Seminole Hard Rock Support Services. "And to be able to help support the community do that, and to be able to support 300 women for a whole year, what an amazing impact!"
Organizers said the donations will help provide menstrual products to women and girls in Lee and Collier counties. The conference demonstrated how professional development events can create meaningful community impact while empowering women in leadership roles.
