Survey ends Wednesday for Fort Myers residents to shape Innovation Walk along River District

Wednesday is the last day Fort Myers residents can weigh in on what the city's future Innovation Walk should look like. Aug. 12 is the deadline to complete a community survey asking people what they want to see and experience along the proposed interactive trail connecting Centennial Park to the Edison and Ford Winter Estates. The Fort Myers Community Redevelopment Agency says the project is designed to celebrate the city's history of innovation while bringing new technology, art and interactive experiences to the River District. The vision draws inspiration from innovators connected to Fort Myers, including Thomas Edison and Henry Ford, while looking toward the city's future. Plans call for a roughly mile-long experience featuring interactive exhibits, installations and technology. The project team has also explored incorporating augmented and virtual reality into the walk. The survey asks participants what they believe the Innovation Walk should offer and which themes it should explore. The feedback will be used as the project team develops design options for the waterfront corridor. Community input has played a role throughout the planning process.
