A group of kids was accused of causing $2,500 in damages at a Target store in North Naples on July 9, racing mobility scooters and e-motos while putting shoppers at risk, according to Collier County deputies. Security camera footage shared by the Collier County Sheriff's Office showed the kids reportedly riding mobility scooters outside the store off Tarpon Bay Boulevard. The arrest reports say they were accused of previously riding them inside, crashing into items as employees tried to remove them. Deputies say the group reportedly blasted music, shouted profanities at shoppers, and even did so in front of a 9-year-old girl. "It's very shocking to see that! Where are their parents?" said Anjy Zaffer, a North Naples resident. Two of the kids, 12-year-old Gardner Little and 16-year-old Collin Jeske, were arrested on felony criminal mischief charges more than a month after the incident. "It seems like they have a lot of time on their hands. And it's time to get back to school!" Zaffer said. Deputies said some of the kids reportedly returned to the store on e-motos, performing burnouts against concrete posts outside. Tire marks from the incident remain visible more than a month later on Tuesday. "Someone could and definitely gotten hurt or could have like had something bad happen to them," said Gavin McCubbin, a Naples resident. The sheriff’s office has not confirmed whether the rest of the group will face charges. "Very disrespectful," McCubbin said. "I would just highly recommend you guys to not do that again," said William Bode, a Naples resident. Back-to-school shoppers expressed hope that incidents like this do not become a trend.
