Victim speaks out after gun pointed at him at Port Charlotte Beach

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. (WINK)—A man is facing multiple charges after deputies say he pulled a gun on several people at Port Charlotte Beach and pulled the trigger at least once.

Daniel Arnot is facing four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of resisting an officer without violence. One victim, who asked to remain anonymous, said he watched the gun get pointed directly at him.

"He turned the gun to me and tried to shoot me at point-blank range," the victim said.

The victim said what started as a day at the beach quickly turned into a fight for his life. He said he's alive because the gun didn't fire.

"It's not often that a Glock or whatever kind of gun he had jams... twice," he said.

The victim said he and his friend tried to avoid Arnot after seeing him acting aggressively with his dog. But he said Arnot followed them, confronted them and pulled the gun.

"No sir, I don't want to talk to you know what I'm saying, and then he pulled the gun on us, and my friend looked at me, and then he tried to shoot him," the victim said.

The arrest report states the gun's magazine fell out. Deputies say Arnot put it back in, pulled the slide back and a round fell out.

The victim said he and his friend got out of there fast.

"It's not like he pulled the gun on me and my friend he pulled the gun on more than 10 people, I heard," he said.

Arnot's bond was set at $31,000, and he has since been released on bond. The victim said he's grateful no one was shot and he hopes what happened at the beach doesn't happen to another family.
