2 arrested on child neglect charges in Fort Myers after 10-year-old overdoses on fentanyl, LCSO says

Two people were arrested after deputies with the Lee County Sheriff's Office say they allowed a 10-year-old child near fentanyl, eventually leading to an overdose. According to LCSO, deputies initially responded to the Quality Suites in Fort Myers in reference to a medical assist. Upon arrival, they found a 10-year-old child unresponsive, not breathing and with a faint pulse. It was determined that the child was suffering from a drug overdose, and deputies administered naloxone. The victim was transported to the hospital for further evaluation. The two suspects involved, Robert Dillard and Tasianna Squires, were detained pending further investigation. In the hotel room, deputies found drug paraphernalia and clear bags containing fentanyl, including a bag in Squires' purse after a search warrant was authorized, LCSO says. Trafficking amounts of fentanyl were also found behind the refrigerator. Deputies arrested Dillard and Squires, who both face child neglect and trafficking in fentanyl charges.
