I-75 standoff suspect released from Lee County Jail; transferred to Hillsborough County

LEE COUNTY, Fla. (WINK) — The suspect in a standoff on Interstate 75 in July was released on Thursday by the Lee County Jail, according to jail records. He is now in custody with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

Ladavion King is accused of killing a woman in St. Pete on July 22 and then driving south on Interstate 75. Florida Highway Patrol caught up to him near the Alico Road exit.

A trooper bumped his truck, causing it to crash. Law enforcement exchanged gunfire with King, who was eventually taken into custody.

King was in the hospital after being shot. His jail record now shows "released."

HCSO confirmed that King is in the hospital, but once he is released, he will be booked into the jail.
