A man was arrested by the Lee County Sheriff's Office months after deputies found human remains in a hidden grave behind the Lee County Election Center. Deputies say that the investigation in March began after LCSO received a call regarding a missing person. Following an investigation, skeletal remains were discovered behind the Lee County Election Center. The remains were positively identified as the missing man. The Medical Examiner determined that the cause of death was a homicide. During the investigation, deputies say they established probable cause to arrest Gabriel Carlo Leon Torres, 44, in connection with the homicide. Leon Torres faces a second-degree murder charge. He also faces a tampering with physical evidence charge. Deputies say that while an arrest has been made, this is still an active investigation. LCSO says that the Lee County Election Center has no involvement in this investigation.
