One dead after crash on SR 80 near Buckingham Road in Lee County

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. (WINK)—One person is dead following a two-vehicle crash on State Road 80 near Buckingham Road.

The crash involved a small white car and a white work van, which ended up in a ditch. The Florida Highway Patrol confirmed the fatality.

Witnesses at nearby businesses said they heard a loud bang and ran out to try and help. They told WINK News an off-duty paramedic also tried to help the person who died.

Earlier in the afternoon, one lane of westbound traffic was blocked off. Traffic has since begun to flow better at the scene.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
