Today kicks off a new weather pattern. Temperatures will remain very hot and well above average, but rain chances will drop to around 10% as much drier air, associated with Saharan dust, moves into the region. Only a stray shower is possible, so expect another afternoon of intense heat and plenty of sunshine.
Be sure to take breaks in the shade and stay hydrated. Heat advisories are in place across Southwest Florida, with feels-like temperatures ranging from 105 to 112 degrees. Actual temperatures will climb into the upper 90s.
Monday will begin similarly to today, with dry conditions expected throughout the day and temperatures once again soaring well above average. Heat advisories will likely remain in place, so continue to take precautions against the extreme heat.
The dry air is expected to stick around through much of the upcoming workweek, keeping rain chances low and temperatures elevated. Be prepared for more heat through much of the week, although rain chances will begin to increase around midweek.
We’re watching Hurricane Lala in the Central Pacific, which made its closest pass to Hawaii last night. The storm brought strong winds and heavy rainfall to the big island. The northern islands will continue to experience tropical-storm-force winds over the next 24 hours before Lala moves out over the open ocean.
In the Atlantic, no tropical development is expected over the next seven days.
Winds will be out of the southeast to west at 5–10 knots, with a light chop expected in the bays. You won’t have to worry much about checking the radar for storms today, but be sure to stay cool and hydrated while out on the water.
