A bicyclist died after he was struck by a vehicle while riding south on State Road 29 in Collier County, and authorities are searching for the driver involved. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a vehicle was traveling south on State Road 29, south of State Road 82, as the bicyclist was riding on the SR-29 paved apron. Troopers said the vehicle hit the bicyclist and fled the scene. FHP noted the suspected vehicle had headlight damage, but did not share any further details. The male bicyclist was found on the grass shoulder of State Road 29 at approximately 12:30 p.m. Monday. The male was pronounced dead on the scene, and troopers are working to identify him. FHP said the incident remains under investigation to determine the specific date and time of the incident.
