Stabilization work is set to begin on Tuesday for the Seven Islands Property in Cape Coral in preparation for mangrove replanting. >>Video above: Previous coverage from June 25, 2026 Gulf Gateway Resort & Marina, LLC said it has been working closely with local, state, and federal agencies regarding the restoration measures after learning that the mangroves had inadvertently been removed from the Seven Islands Property. The South Florida Water Management District and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers approved the bank stabilization plan, parts of which include reshaping the shoreline and stabilizing the bank to prevent erosion. The work beginning Tuesday is set to address around 545 linear feet of shoreline and is expected to be completed within four weeks. Gulf Gateway Resort & Marina said that once the work is complete and upon approval of the mangrove restoration plan by local agencies, mangrove replanting will begin.
