Collier County deputies arrested a driver who is accused of speeding up to 120 mph on northbound I-75 early Monday morning, weaving through traffic and forcing a semi-truck to brake to avoid a crash. "It's really, really fast," drivers in the area like Felicia Gal said. Deputies said 30-year-old Mardochee Conte was arrested for super speeding and reckless driving. The arrest report stated Conte cut in front of a semi-truck, forcing the driver to brake to avoid a crash. The report also noted the Kia he was driving appeared to hit something in the road, knocking off part of the front fender cover. Deputies said the incident occurred near mile marker 101 on I-75, where Conte was speeding through traffic and putting other drivers at risk. "I've just been seeing a lot about accidents and people speeding. And we just have to be careful because there's a lot of older folks in this town," Gal said. Deputies said Conte eventually stopped just before the Golden Gate Parkway exit. Gal urged drivers to be more cautious. "Try to go to the speed limit and just be aware of other people and how that might affect them," she said. The Collier County Sheriff's Office said deputies have made 46 arrests under the new law from Jan. 1, 2026, to July 31, 2026, the most recent numbers available. CCSO deputies made a total of 36 arrests under the Super Speeder law in 2025 since it was enacted on July 1, 2025.
