SOUTHWEST FLORIDA (WINK) — WINK News Weather Authority meteorologists are tracking a return of tropical moisture that will bring more rain and storm chances as we head into the weekend. However, rainfall will remain limited for most areas.
While temperatures are still set to run at or above normal, returning rain chances will keep the afternoons cooler for some communities.
Thursday starts with temperatures in the upper 70s to lower 80s. A wind shift will lead to a stray shower around coastal areas through the morning. Scattered storms (40% coverage) will pop up around midday and increase in coverage as they gradually track east and farther inland throughout the afternoon. Highs will top out in the lower to mid 90s.
Onshore flow will lead to stray showers (10% coverage) around coastal areas throughout Friday morning, with temperatures in the 70s and 80s. Similar to Thursday, isolated showers and a few storms (30% coverage) will build and track farther inland throughout the afternoon and evening. Most areas will be dry for high school football games Friday evening. Highs will top out in the lower to mid 90s.
WINK Weather Authority meteorologists and the National Hurricane Center are not tracking any tropical disturbances at the moment. No tropical development is expected over the next seven days. Signals point to some low development chances near the coast of Africa toward the end of August, but right now, this is not a concern.
The WINK News Weather Authority meteorologists are tracking continued chances for isolated showers and thunderstorms this weekend. Stay up to date with the latest forecast on WINK News and anytime on the WINK Weather App.
