Cape Coral city leaders approved the Cape Coral Rowing Club's request to train at Tropicana Park during a meeting Wednesday night, reversing a previous decision made in April. In April, the city council denied the club's request, citing safety concerns, opposition from residents, and suggestions to move the club to Crystal Lake Park. Saundra Weston, president of the rowing club, shared her reaction to the decision. "I am ecstatic. I'm overwhelmed. I'm blown away. I mean, I didn't see this coming. I mean, seriously, this is the most amazing, amazing outcome I ever could have expected," Weston said. The club plans to inspect the property at Tropicana Park to ensure it matches their plans before preparing for the start of their season in October.
