A one-vote margin pushed a $23 million transportation improvement plan on Marco Island during Florida's primary election, with a recount set to follow. "I went to the polls, and I guess my vote counts, and it shows," Marco Island voter Megan Millan said. The plan would allocate millions of dollars toward replacing and repairing five bridges across the island and improving roads, with the projects expected to take a decade to complete. "I think it's really important for our voters to understand that there is nothing wrong with conducting a recount," Collier County Supervisor of Elections Melissa Blazier said. "We hear recount in the state of Florida over the past 26 years, you know, from 2000 when we had the big recount...folks think, there's something wrong with the election, right? There's nothing wrong with the election. It's just a close race, as evidenced by, you know, a one-vote difference." If ultimately approved, homeowners on Marco Island would pay between $48 and $97, depending on their property value.
