Cape Coral police arrest 76-year-old man for lewd and lascivious molestation of juvenile

CAPE CORAL, Fla. (WINK)—The Cape Coral Police Department arrested a 76-year-old man following an investigation into allegations of a sex offense involving a juvenile.

Clinton Burton was taken into custody on Aug. 20, 2026. The Cape Coral Police Department Special Victims Unit investigated after the juvenile reported multiple incidents of sexual abuse.

The investigation revealed Burton would exchange sweet treats for sex acts. Following a forensic interview and subsequent investigative efforts, detectives established probable cause for Burton's arrest.

Burton was arrested for lewd or lascivious molestation, in violation of Florida Statute § 800.04(5)(b). He was transported to the Lee County Jail.
