Fort Myers man skips court hearing after being accused of soliciting sexual images from 14-year-old

A Fort Myers man has a new warrant out for his arrest after he skipped his court hearing following an arrest on over a dozen counts of child pornography and other related charges, according to Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers. Crime Stoppers says that a 14-year-old victim was on an internet site when Joseph Soto Romero, 22, started talking to her. Crime Stoppers says that he requested the girl to send nude pictures, later offering money for the images. The victim reportedly told Soto Romero that she was 14, but the requests continued until he started making threats to her family, according to detectives. Soto Romero was arrested on a litany of child porn charges, and a new warrant was put out when he failed to show up for his court hearing. Soto Romero is 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighs 160 pounds and will be held without bond upon his release. He was last seen around the Tice/North Fort Myers area.
