Monday storms hint at a wetter weather pattern ahead

WINK News Weather Authority meteorologists are tracking a little more rain to start the week ahead of a wetter pattern that builds in later this week.

Monday

Mainly dry start with temperatures in the upper 70s to lower 80s. Onshore flow will lead to a few coastal showers (20% coverage) around midday before becoming more isolated (30% coverage) through the afternoon. Those isolated storms will build along I-75 as they track farther inland through the afternoon and evening. Highs top out in the lower to mid 90s.

Tuesday

A stray morning shower is possible Tuesday with temperatures in the upper 70s to lower 80s. A few coastal storms (20% coverage) will develop around midday before increasing in coverage. Scattered storms (40% coverage) are more likely through the afternoon and evening, with some storms staying closer to the coast. Highs climb into the lower to mid 90s.

Wednesday

Mainly dry and mild Wednesday morning with temperatures in the upper 70s to lower 80s. A wetter pattern takes shape Wednesday, with scattered storms (50% coverage) developing throughout the afternoon and evening. Some areas could get quite the soaking, with gusty winds and frequent lightning accompanying the stronger storms. Highs top out in the lower to mid 90s.

Tropics

1. Central Subtropical Atlantic (AL95):

Showers and thunderstorms associated with an area of low pressure are located a few hundred miles southeast of Bermuda. Further development of the low is possible, and this system could become a short-lived tropical depression or storm during the next couple of days while it moves northward and north-northeastward, well northeast of Bermuda.

2. Eastern Tropical Atlantic:

A tropical wave is expected to move off the west coast of Africa later today, and an area of low pressure could form in association with the wave early this week. Environmental conditions are forecast to be marginally conducive for development, and a tropical depression could form by the middle to latter portions of the week. WINK Weather Authority meteorologists will continue watching this disturbance while the system moves generally westward at 15 to 20 mph across the eastern and central tropical Atlantic.
