15-year-old Barron Collier student faces felony charges after butterfly knife found in clothing, deputies say

NAPLES, Fla. (WINK) — A 15-year-old Barron Collier High School student faces felony charges after deputies say he was found with a butterfly knife and a box cutter at school.

School administration was made aware this morning that the student was seen with a knife on school grounds, the Collier County Sheriff's Office said in a release.

Deputies said they found a butterfly knife with a 4-inch blade concealed in the student's clothing. He also was found to be in possession of a box cutter, deputies added.

No threat was made, and deputies believe there was no danger to the school.

The student is charged with two counts of possession of a weapon on school grounds, which the Sheriff's Office said are felonies.
