Lee Health warns SWFL patients about MyChart fraud targeting seniors

FORT MYERS, Fla. (WINK) — A wave of phishing emails and texts impersonating MyChart is flooding hospitals and health systems across the country.

MyChart is a patient portal used by hospitals and healthcare systems, including Lee Health in Southwest Florida. This new scheme is targeting patients, trying to take their personal information to sell online.

Those messages include promises of a "MyChart Medicare Kit" or "Senior Health Package." Healthcare systems say to delete the messages without clicking.

Do not give out your personal information. Verify the sender and stay skeptical of free offers.

Lee Health said these messages are "being distributed by third parties seeking to obtain personal and sensitive information."
