Englewood Fire crew saves 2 baby ducks separated from their family

ENGLEWOOD, Fla. (WINK)— Two ducklings were rescued Wednesday morning after they couldn't make the jump from their nest box to a nearby pond.

Neighbors watched a pair of Black-bellied Whistling-Ducks lead their babies from a duck box to a pond, according to a social media post from the Englewood Fire Department. Two of the ducklings didn't make the jump and were left behind.

Englewood Fire Department crews responded to the call and rescued the two ducklings after hearing their peeps. Neighbors then brought the ducklings to the Wildlife Center of Southwest Florida for care.

The fire department said helping local wildlife is sometimes part of the job.
