Family pleads for justice after Matthew St Marc’s death nearly one month later

Matthew St Marc was killed outside a duplex in Lehigh Acres on July 27, and nearly one month after his death, his grieving family is pleading for justice as the investigation continues. “We’re not okay, we’re taking it day by day, but we’re not okay,” said his sister, Quayzia Dolce. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office has ruled Matthews's death a homicide but has not disclosed how he died. “I miss him coming outside with a big smile and saying hi to us,” Dolce said. Dolce said her last conversation with her brother was through a text message. “He texted me asking me to call, and I was like, ‘yeah, once I get the car back, I’ll head over that way.’ and then I just ended up totally forgetting about it,” she said, wiping away tears. Matthew’s mother, Rebecca Saint-Marc, described her son as a “ray of light” who always had a smile on his face. “We’re still grieving, still mourning. We’re not able to sleep at night. We don’t sleep at all,” she said. Matthew loved football and played for the Riverdale Wildcats. He also dreamed of becoming a firefighter, following in his uncle’s footsteps. “It’s hard as a mom, trying to be strong for everyone and for his daughter and everyone else, but deep down, I’m breaking every day,” Rebecca Saint-Marc said. “He was fearless,” she added. The family is desperate for answers and justice. “If you turn yourself in, at least I know you’re behind bars and you won’t be able to hurt anybody else. I wouldn’t wish this pain on any mother or any family,” Rebecca Saint-Marc said. To honor him on Thursday, Rebecca told Gulf Coast News that his friends at his East Lee High High School will be wearing his favorite colors red and black.
