ICE agents detain man outside Lee Health facility as neighbors report ICE activity across Southwest Florida

FORT MYERS, Fla. (WINK) — ICE agents detained a man outside a Lee Health facility Wednesday afternoon in an exclusive incident recorded by WINK News.

Patients and employees watched as ICE agents surrounded trucks and placed a man in handcuffs. 

Neighbors and WINK News viewers also reported seeing ICE agents at several other locations across Lee County, including Jamaica Bay Village near State Road 41 and Six Mile Cypress Parkway, the area around Burnt Store Road, and I-75 in Estero.

Neighbors watched ICE agents circle inside the Palms of Monterrey community just after 1:00 PM Wednesday. WINK News Chief Investigative Reporter Chorus Nylander was there as it unfolded.

When Nylander approached an agent to ask about the investigation, the agent confirmed he was with ICE. WINK News is working to learn if anyone was arrested from that neighborhood.

An "ICE Out Now" protest is scheduled in downtown Fort Myers near the Luminary Hotel at 6:00 PM.
