A Cape Coral man was arrested on Thursday after being accused of stealing Beatbox beverages from a convenience store. According to the Cape Coral Police Department, officers responded to reports of a robbery at a convenience store located in the 800 block of Cape Coral Parkway West at around 2:10 a.m. The store clerk told officers that a man had entered the business, concealed several Beatbox alcoholic beverages inside a backpack, and then tried to leave without paying. The clerk confronted the man, later identified as James Eric Johnson Jr., 47, CCPD said. Johnson then made violent threats toward the clerk and ran from the store, CCPD said. Officers reviewed security footage and were able to positively identify Johnson as the suspect. A search warrant was executed on Johnson's home with the assistance of the CCPD SWAT team. During the execution of the search warrant, Johnson tried to escape out a back window, but was caught with the assistance of CCPD K-9 Venom, CCPD said. Evidence was found throughout Johnson's home, including the clothes worn during the robbery and empty Beatbox containers. Johnson was arrested and faces a charge of robbery without a firearm.
