SOUTHWEST FLORIDA (WINK) —The arrival of scattered showers and thunderstorms will be a little later on Friday compared to Thursday.
Friday morning will start with mostly clear skies and temperatures in the mid to upper 70s. Only a few coastal showers are possible during the first half of the day. Afternoon high temperatures will reach the lower to mid 90s.
A few showers and storms will develop early in the afternoon, with the highest coverage of scattered storms (60%) arriving between 3 and 7 p.m. Only a few showers and storms are possible later Friday evening.
Saturday and Sunday will bring a similar setup, with scattered storms arriving in the afternoon and evening. Rain coverage on Saturday sits at 60%, while Sunday's coverage has increased to 70%.
That still leaves some gaps in the rain coverage. The morning hours will be pleasant, with only a few showers possible. Afternoon temperatures will reach the lower to mid 90s.
Tropical Storm Dolly developed earlier today in the central Atlantic Ocean. It is forecast to remain a low-end tropical storm before dissipating near the eastern Caribbean this weekend due to wind shear. Although Dolly is expected to lose its status as a tropical system before reaching the Leeward Islands, its moisture could still bring periods of heavy rainfall to that region.
