Lightning strikes tree near Pine Manor home, damages car and exterior walls

Lightning struck a tree near a Pine Manor home on Saturday as severe weather impacted the entire Gulf Coast. According to the South Trail Fire Protection and Rescue Service District, lightning struck the top of the tree and traveled through to the bottom. The energy of the lightning ended up damaging the exterior walls of the home and the car, which began smoking and prompted the call to firefighters. Crews say that the battery of the car was malfunctioning, causing the smoke. The fuse of the car was melted and had to be pulled out of the car. No injuries were reported.
