A boat fell off a trailer and slid down Bayshore Drive in East Naples on Saturday, leaving residents shocked and leading to the driver’s arrest on DUI charges. Jaslene Lopez, a Naples resident, recorded the unusual scene on her phone. "I had no words; I was speechless. The first thing I just did was pull out my phone and record like, wow, this is just crazy," Lopez said. Lopez described the moments as the boat continued sliding. "When I was getting up, it was still sliding. Kind of. And then we were just shocked. And then we just saw the driver stopped for a bit," she said. Surveillance footage from Sawyer's Outboard Service, a nearby boat shop, captured the vessel slipping off the trailer and sliding down the road. "He must have been moving pretty good. Looks like the boat came off about 400ft down the road and stayed behind the boat," said Kit Sawyer, the shop’s owner. Collier County deputies arrived to investigate, but the driver attempted to flee. Deputies arrested Corbin Dacey, who reportedly exhibited slurred speech, glassy eyes, and imbalance, according to the sheriff's office report. Neighbors expressed disbelief at the sight of the boat on the street. "You know, like, boats are expensive. So just to leave your boat there is kind of like, you know, surprising," said Alejandro Servin, a Naples resident. Sawyer shared advice for avoiding similar incidents. "I feel sorry for him losing his boat. Next time, strap that," he said. Dacey is facing charges of driving under the influence and refusal to take a DUI test.
