A Naples woman who said a fake text message landed her in jail received a significant update on Tuesday. Melissa Sims got a letter from an attorney with the Collier County Sheriff's Office saying her mugshot was removed. Gulf Coast News checked and it is no longer posted. Sims said she was arrested on evidence her ex made up in 2024. She and her attorney were able to prove the message her ex claimed she sent breaking a no-contact order was fabricated. Since then, Sims has fought to have that arrest removed. Her case is already being expunged, so the letter was the last step she was looking to complete to end what she said uprooted her life for years. Her ex has not been charged in the case.
