Driver gets 15 years in prison for Lee County crash that killed 17-year-old Jaciey Hogan

Issac Sales, the 20-year-old who pleaded no contest to vehicular manslaughter charges after a 2025 crash that killed 17-year-old Jaciey Hogan, has been sentenced to 15 years in state prison. Sales appeared in a Lee County court on Friday to learn his fate. He pleaded no contest to charges related to the crash in July. Sales was driving 40 miles over the speed limit on Gladiolus Drive last year when he ran a red light and hit another car. Jaciey, his passenger, did not survive. Jaciey's mom, Trisha Johnson, gave an emotional victim impact statement in court, telling the judge she had spent months fighting for her daughter's story to be heard. "I'm not asking this court for vengeance," Johnson said. "I'm asking for accountability. I'm asking for my daughter's life to be treated as valuable." Sales apologized to Jaciey's family for the pain he had caused. "I'm truly sorry for the pain," Sales said. "I will continue to forever ask the Lord for forgiveness, not just for myself but for the people that I hurt." Sales was sentenced to 15 years in the Department of Corrections as an adult. The sentence will be followed by two years of community control and three years of state drug offender probation. Sales will also have to wear a GPS monitor for his first two years out of prison, cannot visit Johnson's house, has to submit to a substance abuse evaluation and mental health evaluations, and has to complete 100 hours of community service. Sales also had his driver's license revoked for life.
