Former Estero High School employee accused of sexual crimes involving 13-year-old boy

A former Estero High School employee was arrested after he was accused of sexual crimes involving a 13-year-old boy. According to the Lee County Sheriff's Office arrest report, Juan Antonio Saldivar, 34, was accused of touching the victim while he was sleeping and then performing sexual acts on the victim. The report also states that Saldivar was accused of taking two videos of the alleged abuse. Detectives said a distinct forearm tattoo of Saldivar's was reportedly visible in the frame when investigators went through the phone. The victim refers to Saldivar as his cousin, since Saldivar is related to the victim's guardian, but they are not biologically related, according to the report. The incident reportedly happened on Aug. 24 at the victim's home, the report notes. It was reported to the sheriff's office in Bonita Springs on Aug. 25 after the victim told his aunt and uncle. Deputies said Saldivar denied the allegations, but he said he was at the home when the incident reportedly occurred and was on the couch with the victim. According to the School District of Lee County, Saldivar was fired after working at the school for three weeks as an ESE paraprofessional. In addition, the district said the allegations do not involve a student at the school. Saldivar was arrested and is facing charges of cruelty toward a child - promoting sexual performance by a child and lewd or lascivious battery on a victim aged 12 to 16.
