New warrant issued for man in Lee County accused of DUI, ramming patrol cars

A man in Lee County has a new warrant out following an arrest for driving under the influence and hitting multiple marked law enforcement vehicles, according to Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers. Crime Stoppers says that Ivan Mays, 65, was initially arrested after motorists called 911 after spotting a man driving erratically. Crime Stoppers says that deputies arrived just as Mays caused a head-on collision, but kept on driving. When deputies tried to pull Mays over, they say that he rammed into a marked patrol car, then another, and another, before finally crashing his own car. Mays had to be extricated by firefighters, and Crime Stoppers says that while he was waiting, he drank beer that was in his car. Mays was charged with 11 DUI-related offenses, and after his release was placed on state probation, which he's accused of violating by failing to complete court-ordered check-ins. Mays is 5 feet 10 inches, weighs 300 pounds and will be held without bond upon his arrest.
