The demolition of the remaining structure of the Fort Myers Beach pier is set to begin after the Labor Day holiday weekend, according to the town of Fort Myers Beach. The town says that there will be no construction crews working onsite during the holiday weekend. However, the project area is still an active construction zone. Residents, businesses and visitors in the area should expect to hear construction-related noise once demolition begins. Temporary construction activities are anticipated to continue along the sidewalk on Estero Boulevard, north of Times Square. Pedestrians in the area may experience detours or access changes. The town says they should follow posted signage.
