Crime suppression operation in North Fort Myers leads to 2 arrests; guns and drugs seized

Two men were arrested during a crime suppression operation in North Fort Myers, according to the Lee County Sheriff's Office. LCSO says that on Tuesday, deputies made three arrests, including two men arrested in connection with narcotics and possession of a firearm. During a traffic stop, deputies say that Anthony Hallmon, 39, tossed a container along the road. Inside the container were 12 baggies containing fentanyl and methamphetamine, according to LCSO. Hallmon was arrested and faces charges of possession of a controlled substance, trafficking in fentanyl and resisting arrest. During a separate stop, deputies say they searched the vehicle of Andrew Awis, 45, and found a loaded AK-47. Awis, according to LCSO, is on felony probation and is prohibited from possessing a firearm. In total, deputies performed dozens of traffic stops, issued nine warnings and 2 notices to appear, and arrested three people. "This operation is another example of the proactive work our deputies are doing every day to protect the great residents of Lee County," said Sheriff Carmine Marceno.
