Paragon Theaters to take over Naples Alamo Drafthouse after closure

NAPLES, Fla. (WINK)—Alamo Drafthouse Naples will close its doors on Sept. 9, 2026.

The theater announced the decision to close in a on their social media and webpage, noting that the building will continue operating as a movie theater under Paragon Theaters. Alamo Drafthouse said it will work with Paragon to help connect interested employees with comparable opportunities wherever possible.

Alamo Drafthouse opened at Mercato in North Naples on April 29, 2024, becoming the Austin-based chain’s first Florida location.

The theater took over the former Silverspot Cinema space at Mercato. Silverspot had operated an 11-screen theater there since 2009 before closing in July 2023.

The Naples location featured 11 auditoriums, luxury recliner seating, in-theater food and drink service and a movie-themed miniature golf course, according to the company's site.

Less than two months after the Naples location opened, Sony Pictures Entertainment acquired Alamo Drafthouse Cinema on June 12, 2024. Sony said the chain would continue operating under the Alamo Drafthouse brand as part of its Sony Pictures Experiences division.

The press release thanked partners, teammates and guests in the Southwest Florida community for their support.

Customers who purchased tickets for showings after Sept. 9 will receive automatic refunds via email. Those who bought tickets through Fandango or Atom Tickets should contact those platforms directly for refunds.

Season pass subscribers will have their subscriptions automatically canceled with prorated refunds issued for remaining billing cycles. Confirmation emails will be sent to affected subscribers.
